Saturday- The finale to a great week in Honduras.

Saturday is always a day of mixed emotions. The goodbye to friends in Honduras, the memories of a great week, the seemingly long ride home and the greeting from family we haven't seen for a week. We can easily say this was a great adventure. We carried the message of Jesus Christ to nearly 2800 people as well as realizing how blessed we are in having  BloggerImage BloggerImage BloggerImage BloggerImage BloggerImagehim in our lives. I would like to commend our team on how naturally they became a unit always working together. Also as co-team leader I want to thank my co-leader Debbie Rathert on how valuable she is to this team. This trip would never have been as successful without her working with me. Finally our team would like to thank the many people that supported us on this trip. Your financial supports and especially prayers were deeply appreciated. God bless you all.  BloggerImage BloggerImage BloggerImage BloggerImage

Friday in Honduras

Well, today was our last day here in Honduras.   We were again at the Prince of Peace church.  Our brigade leader, Denys, had laryngitis today so we all prayed for him at our opening gathering.  The weather has been awesome here....the best I've seen in the 16 years I've been coming here.   The skies were as blue as clear water, and the temps were perfect..in the mid 80's.

I was in optical dispensing glasses this morning and we saw 158 patients in the morning which was very busy. You can see from the numbers posted on the picture below that our week has been busy,  but it was very rewarding and spiritually uplifting as well.   God had been good to us this week, having no health issues to speak of, and curing the one that we did have.

We are thankful to Him and to you who are reading this for your continued support and prayers. God's blessings to you, or as they say in Honduras, "Bendiciones!"

Thursday in Honduras - Second Brigade

This morning we returned to the church where we attended Sunday service. As always, we were greeted with a long line anticipating our arrival. The church members quickly grabbed our supplies and helped organize our day. A generous member of the church allowed us to use her small home to provide the children's ministry to 125. Washing the children's hair proved quite challenging today as we straddled a concrete ditch. Since we received our luggage, we were able to give out baseball caps to the boys, in addition to, the hair pretties for the girls. On several occasions we had to remove the children from their plastic chairs to allow the trucks to continue down the street. It was an extremely hot day today. Those of us working outside felt as though we had taken a dip in the river. We treated over 250 in medical and 244 in optical. Upon returning to the mission house, many of us treated ourselves to chocolate chip cookie dough cheesecake, yes before dinner! It was another great day!

Pictures from Wednesday

The roads in Tegucigalpa have improved.

These little cars are everywhere.

He is guarding the beer!

It is sad to see all the dead  pine trees.
